On Tuesday, GFP’s candidate for Mandrem, Deepak Kalangutkar visited Harijanwada in Keri and went house-to-house to canvass for support. He was accompanied by local Congress and GFP workers and received overwhelming response from the residents, especially the youth. Kalangutkar’s warm and frank approach was well received and appreciated.
One of the youngsters present remarked, “Deepakbab is probably the first candidate ever who has spent quality time with us, sat in our midst to discuss the problems faced by us, and who did not hesitate to consume water from our house when he felt thirsty. He enquired at length about the issues of our community and patiently heard our suggestions and understood our demands. He has promised to stand with us in our struggle for a better life and we believe he will stand by his word. We will fully back him and work for him in the coming days to ensure his victory.”
Kalangutkar said that he was truly amazed at the spirit of the youngsters to work hard and aspire for a life very different from the one the older generations had suffered. He said, “I am glad I could spend time with them and I will do my best to tackle the problems facing them and to support the youth in their endeavour for better careers and a bright future.”
A young girl, who was given a patient hearing by Kalangutkar, said, “Other candidates would not even enter our homes. Deepakbab is not like them. He treats us as equals and is one among us. All of us belonging to our mahila mandal have decided to vote for him and make him our next MLA. We are confident that he is the only candidate who will truly work hard for the welfare of all the people of Mandrem, regardless of religion or caste. I appeal to all voters of Mandrem to elect Deepakbab by a huge margin.”
