Strongly condemning what it termed as an unilateral decision of the Goa government to shift the academic year of schools to commence from April 1, instead of the usual June start, the Goa Forward Party has claimed that the decision, taken without consulting key stakeholders, will cause unnecessary disruption to students, teachers, and school administrations across the state.
The party has demanded that the government reconsider this decision and engage in meaningful consultations with stakeholders before implementation. “We are not opposed to increasing the number of academic days, but it must be done in a systematic and seamless manner. Rushed decisions without preparation will only harm students,” Goa Forward Party General Secretary Prashant Naik said.
Addressing the media at the Goemkar Ghor, Fatorda on Thursday, Naik questioned the government’s intent behind such a drastic change without prior discussions with stakeholders, including school managements, teachers, and parents.
The Goa Forward Party urges the government to take immediate corrective measures, provide necessary infrastructure, and allow sufficient time for schools to adapt to any changes in the academic calendar. If not, this decision is bound to fail and will have an adverse impact on Goa’s students.
