PANAJI: Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai on Friday said there is a general sentiment among people against an alliance with Congress, while maintaining that the alliance talks remain suspended.
“There is a general sentiment that the alliance would primarily benefit Congress in its bid for a third consecutive hat-trick of defections. Our party gets no benefit from it,” Sardesai said.
He said any decision to revive the talks would be taken by the party, with no immediate change in its position.
“The alliance talks are suspended, and they remain suspended. If we reconsider, I will let you know. Or if we are to take on a new alliance partner, we will inform you, but there is nothing of the sort right now,” he said.
Sardesai also said GFP has begun preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections across five constituencies in Kushavati district.
“We will first start our campaign in Sanvordem, which is the Speaker’s constituency,” he said, adding that the party will launch a street campaign and yatra on Anant Chaturdashi.
