Stating that development has no religion, Goa Forward Party has demanded the immediate re-issuance of the cancelled work order to beautify and renovate Shree Mallikarjun Temple at Avem-Khotigao.
Addressing a news conference, GFP spokesperson Vikas Bhagat strongly condemned the cancellation of the work order issued by GTDC and questioned the reasons for cancellation of the work order to beautify and renovate the Avem-Khotigao temple.
“People of Khotigao have been eagerly waiting for years for the temple’s development. We are thankful to Sports Minister and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar for felicitating the 5.42 cr tender and work order,” said Bhagat.
“The work was allotted to a contractor and then, there was some noise about the contractor being from a different community. We thought this unnecessary issue would be resolved, but we were surprised to learn that just within three days, the GTDC on July 6 issued a cancellation of the work order dated July 3.”
“Let anyone do the work, what is more important is completion of God’s house work. The minister should answer this question: if he had got the work order sanctioned who had got it cancelled?”
“We are looking for a response from our minister and MLA. We demand the immediate revocation of the cancellation order and resumption of beautification and renovation of Shree Mallikarjun Temple, Avem-Khotigao.”
When informed that one of the Goa Forward Party members had been a complainant for cancellation of the work order, Bhagat clarified that was the personal view of that member concerned.
“But the Goa Forward Party’s stand is that we want revocation of cancellation of work order and resumption of temple works,” reiterated Bhagat.
Canacona GFP Block President Umesh Tubki was also present at the news conference.
