GFP sends relief material to Kerala

MARGAO

Goa Forward Party supremo and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Sunday flagged off two truck loads of relief material for the flood-ravaged state of Kerala, even as he mentioned that the regional party was extending help and assistance to their brethren on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan day.

Goa Forward Youth President Raj Mallik has headed to Kerala with the relief material, which will be handed over to the District Collector for distribution to the affected victims.

The TCP Minister told the media after flagging off the relief material that God’s Own Country was facing its worst crisis triggered by the floods and incessant rains. “Kerala is facing destruction of enormous proportions. The Goa Forward is a small party, but with a big heart. There are big parties, but without a heart,” he said.

Sardesai pointed out that though Goa Forward stands for Goemkarponn and Goans First, there are so many Malayalee people who have settled in Goa and have made the State their home. “These people have been brought up in Goa as Goans as they have adopted the Goan way of life. They are now basically Goemkars. In a way, the relief material a small gesture to heal the problems faced by the people in Kerala,” he said.

Asserting that he does not believe in tokenism, including donating one month’s salary as relief, Sardesai said the GF will continue their efforts to send relief material.
