GFP vows to expose govt in House

MARGAO
Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai on Sunday said the government would be exposed by his party in combination with a united opposition in the ensuing Assembly session from Monday.

Sardesai hit out at the government and accused it of not mitigating the sufferings of Goans during the pandemic. The government had put up the State on a fast track for sale, but after public protests had to retreat, he added.

He said the sellout of Mhadei and the consent for making Goa a coal hub by facilitating the three linear projects are examples of betrayal of Goans by this government.

He said the timely protest by the people had forced the government to make a U-turn in the Old Goa merger into Greater Panaji PDA, cultivation of cannabis, IIT project and finally the municipal ordinance.

Sardesai, however, cautioned the people to be eternally vigilant, fearing all these obnoxious money-making rackets would be revived.

He disclosed plans to move his private member bill to strengthen the institution of the Lokayukta which is the ombudsman against corruption. He ridiculed the government’s attempts to dilute the office of the Lokayukta.
