In an attempt to spread the message of world peace, a 17-year-old boy has taken up a 300-km Belagavi-Goa-Belagavi cycling that was flagged off on Saturday morning.
Inspired by the motto “cycling my passion, world peace my aim,” Shubham Narayan Sakhe began his cycling tour to Goa from the swimming pool near Goaves Circle here at 6 am.
Vinod Bamane of Aptech Aviation, noted skating coach Suryakant Hindalgekar, swimming coach Umesh Kalghatgi and others flagged off the cycling tour.
Shubham cycled via Betane, Jamboti, Kankumbi, Surla, Assonora, Thivim, Shubham reached Baga beach Goa at around 4.30 pm, where he will be staying for the night.
“His return journey will resume from Baga at 6 am on Sunday and he is expected to reach Belagavi via same route a little late as he has to climb the tough and rough Chorla ghat,” Vinod Bamane said.
Venugram Cycling Club, Giants Club of Belagavi, Indian Oil Ltd, Bharatesh Polytechnic and others have sponsored and have supported the cycling rally.
