GFPK urges DGP to recommend govt to cancel Sunburn festival in Goa

MARGAO: A delegation of the Goyche Fudle Pilgi Khatir on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the Director General of Police to recommend to the government the cancellation of the Sunburn music festival in Goa.

The delegation led by GFPK president Jack Mascarenhas requested the DGP to recommend to the government to cancel the Sunburn festival in Goa as the highest authority in the Police in Goa.

It was pointed out that as the event is being opposed by most people in the State, not only because of noise pollution and disruption of their daily routine but also because of its ill effects on the youth, due to its past record and consumption of drugs, which needs to be eradicated in Goa.

“The event, if proposed to be held, is likely to create a law-and-order problem in the State”, the memorandum stated.
