GHRDC guards have better chance for jobs, says CM

Stating that security guards trained by the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) stand a better chance of job opportunities, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the security guards should consider opportunities in different organisations.

Sawant, however, appealed to the security guards not to jeopardise their future by joining trade unions.

He was addressing 85 security personnel who were inducted into government service, during the convocation ceremony of organised by the GHRDC at Valpoi Forest Training Centre.

Others present included GHRDC Managing Director Narayan Navati, FTS Principal Dr Amar Heblekar, GHRDC Director Sarvesh Parab and Valpoi Community Health Centre Health Officer Dr Shyam Kankonkar.

“At present, there are over 3,000 security guards employed in different parts of the State, while over 250 women are functioning as utility staff,” said Sawant.

Praising the GHRDC, the chief minister said it is fully self-sufficient with funds from various establishments and does not rely on government funds for salaries and other expenses of the corporation.

Parab said the GHRDC had done a commendable job in providing job opportunities to middle class unemployed youth in the State and said there would be better job opportunities in the private sector in the near future. Navati reviewed the performance of the corporation

Since the last three months, the security guards have been given comprehensive training at the Forest Training Centre. The 85 security guards have joined government service, while training of new security guards will start from Monday.
