Opposition Congress party leader Chandrakant alias Babu Kavlekar on Sunday appealed to the people of Mandrem to give them an MLA and in return he promised to give Goa an efficient government.
Kavlekar was speaking at a rally of Congress workers at Bagwada- Morjim.
Also present were GPCC President Girish Chodankar, former Union Minister Ramakant Khalap, former minister Sangita Parab and others.
Without naming anyone, Kavlekar alleged that the BJP had come to power by horse trading although the Congress had a clear mandate of the people of Goa.
“Some MLAs betrayed this mandate and now the BJP is spending crores of rupees to keep these MLA intact,” Babu said.
“Voters of Mandrem elected Dayanand Sopte as their MLA, but for selfish gains he betrayed the people of Mandrem. Now the time has come to teach him a lesson and also to show that the people of Goa will not tolerate such politics,” he further said.
GPCC President Girish Chodankar while addressing the rally alleged that Sopte deserted Congress and joined BJP only for money and in this process auctioned the people of Mandrem who are now ready to teach him a lesson.
Chodankar appealed to the voters of Mandrem to start a mission to clean Goan politics, while Khalap added, “If the BJP government remains in power further, Goans will become outsiders in their own homeland.”
