Health Minister moots Goa’s own Hospital Management System
The patient’s reports and medications will also be available in the system

The Online Registration System (ORS) is part of the Central government’s Digital India initiative to accept medical appointments online, but Goa’s health minister has other plans in mind.
In 81 hospitals across the country, over seven lakh people have taken appointments using ORS, but Goa isn’t listed on this portal. When Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane was asked when or if Goa Medical College (GMC) would feature in this list, he replied that the hospital would get one of its own management systems.
The system he proposed was a Hospital Management System (HMS) that would not only allow patients to take appointments but would also store patient information based on their Aadhar cards.
But as has been reported in The Goan Everyday back in July, the same plan Rane speaks of is already in the pipeline, with the dean saying the approvals for creating the infrastructure needed is still pending with the government.
Speaking to media persons at a recent press conference, Rane said, “GMC Dean has his own assessment of being updated, but we have a plan of our own. CM has already directed me to proceed with a hospital management system (HMS). We are scouting for agencies and will choose someone, in consultation with the CM, that has vast experience.”
