He was speaking at a function in Pilerne-Marra panchayat to distribute garbage bins to residents.
“Plastic bags contain chemical elements and when these are burnt, toxic chemicals are released in the air and affect the human body. Hence, people should refrain from burning plastic,” said Godinho.
The minister added that panchayat members should focus their attention to develop their village and to submit their development plans to the State government.
Assuring that development projects would be cleared as soon as possible, Godinho also promised to clear the proposal of the Panchayat Ghar for Pilerne panchayat.
Pilerne-Marra Sarpanch Amarnath Govenkar informed that the panchayat collects garbage on a door-to-door basis. “Hence, it was decided to distribute garbage bins to every household to enable them segregate wet and dry garbage. In the first phase, 3,400 garbage bins will be distributed to residents,” said Govenkar. All panch members were present at the function and later assisted their respective ward residents in the distribution of the garbage bins.
Arun Nagvenkar compered the function, while panch Sandeep Bandodkar proposed the vote of thanks.
