Instead of pronouncing the normal sentence, the Court took into account the fact that the accused Laxman Gaonkar (38) is a government servant and the sole earning member of the family and sentenced him and Vasudev Gaonkar (28) till the rising of the Court. They were also fined Rs 1,200 each and were ordered to furnish personal bonds of Rs 5,000.
Rising of the Court is a sentence of imprisonment whereby the guilty person is detained in the Court room and is not allowed to leave the Courthouse till the session concludes. TGN
