Students hoping to get into the medical stream are in for some good news, with the seats for MBBS set to increase from 150 to 200 from the next academic year, dean of GMC Dr Shivanand Bandekar confirmed on Saturday.
However, this year, the existing 150 seats will not be increased, as, though in-principle approval for the same has been given, the approval in writing is yet to come.
Meanwhile, of the 150 seats the college offers for post-graduation, the 26 diploma seats may be converted into degree seats, the proposal for which has already been sent to MCI.
Meanwhile, for the first time this year, 10% of the seats at the GMC will be reserved for those from the general category for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS).
Directorate of Technical Education will display list of eligible candidates to MBBS on June 28.
The last date for compliance with deficiencies in NEET-based eligibility list is July 1. The first round of admission to NEET based courses will be on July 4 and 5. The provisional merit list of NEET based courses will be displayed at the DTE on July 2, and a final list will be displayed on July 3.
