Goa’s RERA website to rollout by Jan 17

PANAJI
In what should come as a major relief to the real-estate sector, Sudhir Mahajan, Urban Development Secretary, has informed that the State government will make Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA) website operational by January 17.
Mahajan said, "We are doing trial runs of the RERA website as of now. We think that the website should be up and running by January 17."
Around couple of months back, the State government had notified RERA rules, which provide for registration of real estate projects, protection to buyers and etc. However, RERA website has not been launched yet.
Goa is lagging behind other states, which have not only notified RERA rules but have also made RERA website operational. Builders in the State had expressed helplessness because they have not been able to register their projects online, as there is no RERA website as of now.
But, it appears that the State government has finally decided to make amends by launching RERA website soon.
The upcoming RERA portal is expected to bring in a lot of transparency in the system for buyers as well as genuine builders. For example, the neighbouring state of Karnataka provides information about projects, which are not registered and under investigation on its RERA website. Similarly, it also provides a list of registered agents.
Due to this, people are aware as to who is a registered agent and who is not, which helps in bringing a lot of clarity in real-estate deals. Real estate buyers in Goa can also have a sigh of relief, as the State government is about to launch the RERA website.
