Goa pitched itself as a global partnership hub on Monday, asserting that technology-enabled tourism, creative industries and a growing talent pool will drive its next phase of development.
At a high-level roundtable with a visiting delegation from Norway, the State explored collaboration opportunities across technology, tourism, skilling and the creative economy.
Information Technology and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said Goa is developing a model where innovation, creativity and sustainable tourism intersect.
Highlighting the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster, AI skilling programmes and the State’s startup policy, he said Goa is creating a platform for global partnerships but stressed that Goans must remain the primary beneficiaries in terms of employment and growth.
In the meeting, hosted by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C) in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, the minister further added that both Goa and Norway have substantial scope for joint work in innovation, technology and tourism.
Christian H Engh, CEO of the Norwegian Cybersecurity Cluster, said Norway views Goa as a strategic partner to co-develop scalable solutions in Goa.
A detailed tourism briefing by Dr Gavin Dias, GM (Marketing), GTDC, showcased Goa’s focus on sustainable and climate-resilient tourism and investment prospects in experiential tourism, wellness and Ayurveda, adventure services, charter flight operations and hospitality.
