Goa barge owners submit charter of demands to Ports Minister Digambar Kamat

PANAJI: The Goa Barge Owners Association (GBOA) on Wednesday submitted their Charter of Demands to Ports Minister Digambar Kamat, seeking early resolution of key issues affecting the State's barge industry. The Minister assured the delegation that genuine concerns would be addressed on priority.


The delegation, led by GBOA President Mayur Parsekar, met Kamat at the State Secretariat to present the Association's demands along with Vice President Derrick Valles, Secretary Raul Maik, Treasurer Alex Coutinho and Executive Member Raynod De Souza. Captain of Ports Octavia Rodrigues was also present during the meeting.


According to the Association, Kamat gave the delegation a patient hearing, appreciated the issues raised and assured that immediate action would be initiated on the genuine concerns affecting the barge sector.


Captain of Ports Octavia Rodrigues also assured the Association of her full cooperation in addressing matters related to the inland water transport and barge industry.


The Goa Barge Owners Association expressed gratitude to the Kamat and the Captain of Ports for their positive response and reiterated its commitment to working with the government for the sustainable growth and development of Goa's inland water transport and barge industry.
