Goa draws blank in Central govt's start-up ranking

Goa drew a blank and found no mention in the list of States ranked by the Central government for performance in promoting investments in Start-ups. 

Gujarat, Karnataka and Kerala took top spots among the States while among Union Territories, Andaman & Nicobar Islands topped. 

Goa was not even mentioned did not even find a mention in the list released on Friday by the Centre's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for  ‘States’ Startup Ranking  2019’. 

Ranking was based on seven reform areas and included some 30 action points including institutional support, easing compliances, relaxing public procurement norms, support for incubation and seed/venture funding.

Last year, Goa featured as an 'Emerging State' and was placed at 15th position in the rankings released by DPIIT for 2018.
