Goa Forward supremo and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday warned that the Goa youth Forward will stop airlines operating from the state if the airline companies are not ready to make a simple in-flight announcement in Konkani language while landing at the Dabolim airport.
“We have to take Konkani and Goa forward. If the airlines are not ready to make the in-flight announcement while landing at Dabolim, the Goa Youth Forward will take up the issue and stop airlines from operating from Goa”, he said, while speaking at the unveiling of Madhavi Sardesai square near BPS Club, Pajifond on Saturday.
He warned Goa Youth Forward will go to any extent to compel the airlines from making the announcement in Konkani. “Take note, the airlines will be stopped from landing or their offices shut down”, he warned.
“When we brought back Madhavi Sardesai to Goa from the Mumbai hospital, she appeared dejected over the way casino boats have invaded the Mandovi and that even the airlines do not make the in-flight announcement in Konkani”, he told the gathering, saying the Goa Youth Forward will take up the cause with the airlines.
Saying the airlines make the in-flight announcement in their respective languages while landing at other airports, the TCP Minister demanded to know why Goa is an exception. “I will take up the matter with Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu and question him why Air India does not make the in-flight announcement in Konkani”, he said.
