VASCO
Goa Forward Working President Kiran Kandolkar has hinted at fielding candidates in at least two of four constituencies in Mormugao.
Kandolkar was speaking to reporters after he along with other party leaders Durgadas Kamat, John Nazareth and Akbar Mulla visited Vasco and offered prayers at the Lord Damodar temple, before beginning their political journey in Mormugao.
“We are here to strengthen the party from the grass roots by meeting our well-wishers and supporters here. We have some candidates in mind and there are some who have expressed interest to contest elections from here on the GFP ticket,” said Kandolkar.
“We have already declared 12 candidates across the State and we will soon announce candidates from this taluka as well.”
“As far as an alliance is concerned, we are not asking for any constituency where the Congress has a sitting MLA, but with or without an alliance, we have plans to field at least two candidates in Mornugao. The Congress cannot claim any constituency in Mormugao because these constituencies are presently with the BJP,” said Kandolkar.
Kandolkar said there has been growing public resentment against the BJP, which would not cross double digit figures in the upcoming assembly elections.
“We will have a non-BJP government in the State this time round,” said Kandolkar.
