Goa’s first 50-bedded integrated ayurvedic and allopathic hospital at Bicholim, which was inaugurated on Monday, will be thrown open for public in the coming four to five months.
The hospital, handed over by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) to Deendayal Janaseva Pratisthan under its CSR initiative, in the presence of the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will provide free treatment to economically weaker sections while 10 per cent services would be reserved for people below poverty line (BPL).
Speaking during the event, Sawant emphasised that this hospital aims to bridge the gap in healthcare access, allowing people to receive both ayurvedic and allopathic care locally.
The facility apart from catering to the State population will also provide treatment to people from the neighbouring districts of Maharashtra and Karnataka. “This healthcare facility will serve not only locals but also tourists and those from neighbouring states,” he said.
The hospital has been funded with Rs 10.36 crore from IOCL and will feature a range of advanced medical services, including emergency care, diagnostic facilities, Panchakarma treatment rooms, specialised wards, operation theatres, and a dialysis unit. It will also provide a multi-purpose hall for medical seminars and public health programmes.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister expressed the willingness of the State government to be part of the IOCL initiative of establishing Milk Bank in Goa.
