Goa gets Rs 163 cr GST in compensation

Goa got a fiscal bonanza on Wednesday in the form of GST shortfall compensation after the Centre released Rs 17,000 crore to States.

A press release issued by the Centre's propaganda arm Press Information Bureau said the Central government has released GST compensation of Rs 17,000 crore to States on Wednesday.

According to the PIB press release, the Centre has released a total of Rs 60,000 crore to the States thus far in 'GST shortfall compensation' in the current fiscal 2021-22.

"As per the decision of GST Council, back to back loan of Rs.1.59 lakh crore has already been released in lieu of shortfall in release of GST Compensation during the current financial year," PIB release said.

The PIB also released a table of how much was released to each of the States where it mentioned Goa's share of Rs 163 crore.
