An International Pathology Conference and CME programme in Histopathology and Cytopathology was held at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar from January 23 to 25, drawing wide national and international participation.
The conference featured renowned global faculty, including Dr Ronald Ghossein and Dr Nora Katabi of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York; Dr Rafael Jimenez from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine and Science; Dr Megha Joshi of Beth Israel Lahey Hospitals, USA; and Dr RG Wiseman Pinto, former Dean and Head of Pathology, Goa University.
The Indian faculty comprised leading experts from Tata Memorial Hospital, PGIMER Chandigarh, AIIMS Bhopal and Guwahati, and SGPGI Lucknow.
The three-day scientific programme included 23 lectures, slide seminars and quiz sessions, along with 104 proffered oral papers and poster presentations. Delegates attended from the USA, UK, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand and 23 Indian states and Union Territories, representing 60 medical colleges and 20 private laboratories, hospitals and research institutions.
Key topics covered thyroid and salivary gland cancers, digital pathology and AI, gastrointestinal and renal pathology, soft tissue tumours, oral cancers, congenital anomalies, autopsies and guided biopsies.
The conference, accredited with 10 CME credit points by the Goa Medical Council, upheld high ethical standards with no sponsors or commercial stalls. A tribute was paid to late oncopathologist Dr Anita Borges, while the scientific sessions were anchored by Dr Deepa Correia Afonso and Dr Savio Rodrigues.
