The Goa Muslim Forum visited the Old Goa fast satyagraha on Wednesday to extend their support to the agitation.
President of the forum Shaikh Iftikar informed that the Muslim community is with the people in supporting their agitation.
“We are Goans first, then Hindus, Muslims and Christians. Also, when it comes to Goa we always keep aside our political affiliation. And because of that, the Goa Muslim Forum, on behalf of Muslims, are extending our support to the agitation,” Iftikar stated.
“This issue is of the Goans, irrespective of caste, religion or politics. Requesting Goans to come together because if we do not get united, these politicians will sell Goa,” he informed.
“Goans love Goa and we have to show that by supporting this issue which is happening in a holy place like Old Goa,” Iftikar stated.
Speaking to reporters, a member of the forum Ali Shaikh said people from all parts of Goa like Sanvordem, Bicholim, Mardol, Mapusa, Margao, Mormugao, Usgao and other places have come to extend their support.
“We do not want such destruction of heritage sites. We want Goa to be saved for future generations and this structure has to be demolished,” Shaikh added.
Meanwhile, as the fast satyagraha completed 15 days, people from Bicholim and Cortalim also participated to extend their support to the agitation.
