In yet another shot in the arm for the State, Goa was declared as the ‘Best Performing Small State' at the NDTV Indian of the Year Awards presented on Saturday.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant received the award from Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.
Speaking at the event, Sawant highlighted the State’s progress saying "every village is digitally connected. The 'Har Ghar Fiber' project is being completed in Panjim and that the ‘Work From Beach’ scheme will soon take off where people can come to Goa, relax, and also work".
Sawant also said the homestay policy had been launched and that the infrastructure for the same was getting ready.
“We want to create human resources. We are making hospitality institutes and skilling up the youth," he added.
Stating that in future Goa will be known as Dakshin Kashi, Sawant said "we welcome people for spiritual tourism and have started Samudra aarti at the Miramar beach promenade”.
