The State Police Control Room (SPCR) has recorded a 12.08 per cent drop in calls in the first four months of 2025 as compared to the corresponding period last year. The drop in PCR complaints also comprise noise pollution at a time when cases are being filed over violation of sound norms and concerns over late night loud music parties along the tourist-populated coastal belt.
A media statement issued by Chief Minister's Office late Thursday night stated that the figures indicate an improvement in law and order across Goa.
As per the data, from January 1 to April 30 this year, a total of 10,816 PCR calls were received, a drop from 12,302 during the same period last year. This records a reduction by 12.08 per cent.
All major categories of PCR calls registered a decline. A total of 33 snatching incidents were reported from January-April 2025, compared to 66 during the same period in 2024 -- 50 per cent fall. Complaints related to bullfighting also dropped from 14 to 8 -- a 42.9 per cent decline.
Cases pertaining to crimes against women reduced from 298 last year to 234 this year - 21.5 per cent drop.
Theft cases came down from 348 to 292. Reports of noise pollution fell from 2,562 to 2,224, a 13.2 per cent dip, while traffic-related calls reduced from 999 to 880, recording an 11.9 per cent fall.
Incidents of fighting and assault declined by 11.4 per cent, from 4,924 to 4,361. Accident-related calls reduced by 9.9 per cent, from 3,091 to 2,784 cases.
The press release stated that the decline in crime against women is particularly encouraging and attributed it to ongoing efforts including public awareness drives, quick response mechanisms and stronger community engagement.
It added that overall reduction in PCR calls is owing to effective policing, better law enforcement strategies, and increased cooperation from the public.
Citizens have been urged to continue reporting suspicious or unlawful activities through the 112 emergency helpline or by approaching the nearest police station. The department said that community support remains a cornerstone in sustaining peace and order in the state.
