Goa to get subsidized fish, pao if GF comes to power, says Vijai

To contest on GFP ticket, says sole aim is to pack off BJP in 2017 polls

MAPUSA

Virtually launching Goa Forward Party’s election campaign in Mapusa, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai on Sunday promised subsidized fish, pao (bread), coconut and rice to the people of Goa if Goa Forward Party came to power in State and confirmed that he will contest on Goa Forward Party’s ticket in 2017 elections.
He also said GFP’s sole aim was to dethrone BJP in the 2017 polls and for that to happen he was trying to bring all like-minded parties together.
“We can contest in all 40 constituencies in the State but since we want to avoid split in votes we were trying to explore ways to form an alliance with like-minded parties. Our only mission is to send back BJP home in the assembly elections,” Sardessai said.
The Independent MLA from Fatorda was speaking at a function while launching the party’s “Mission Bardez” by announcing various block and mahila committees for the Mapusa constituency. His Porvorim colleague Rohan Khaunte, GFP’s President Prabhakar Timble and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Speaking further, he said GFP was placing a model before the Goans by launching a people’s regional party and it was for the people to decide in the election.
Launching a tirade against the BJP, he said the party which promised the sky during the 2012 assembly polls has gone back on each and every promise it made to the Goans.   He said Mapusa has given a chief minister and a deputy chief minister to Goa while Mapusa has got nothing in return.   “The pathetic condition of roads, traffic chaos and haphazard laying of sewerage line is testimony of how Mapusa has fared,” he said.
Hitting out at Aam Aadmi Party, he said the Delhi party was a dictatorial party which has no love for the Goans and challenged the party to retain its deposit in Fatorda.
“I challenge AAP to contest from Fatorda and retain its deposit. If they do, I will quit the seat,” Sardesai said.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said GFP was a movement and called on the people of Goa to join the movement to bring a change for good of Goa.
