Contrary to claims made by other states, Goa is the top state in the country as far as availability of educational infrastructure is concerned, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Tuesday.
Speaking at the launch of NISHTHA 2.0, an online training and upgradation module for secondary teachers in the state, Sawant also said that timely upgradation of teaching skills is essential for both students and teachers.
“When we compare the education scenario in the country, we are the number one state in the entire country in infrastructure at the school, primary, secondary, higher secondary and higher education levels,” Sawant said at the launch event.
“Many states say that they are the first, but as education minister I can proudly say that in infrastructure at education level, we are the number one state as far as government institutes and aided institutes (are concerned). This is a proud moment for the students in Goa,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister’s comments come at a time when the Aam Aadmi Party, which is in power in the national capital has been showcasing its achievements in the education sector -- especially upgradation of government schools -- in poll-bound Goa.
Sawant also said that the upgradation programme NISHTHA 2.0 was critical for the development of students as well as teachers.
“Timely upgradation of teachers is essential. Teachers will be benefited and students too with this upgradation,” Sawant said.
