“With a meteoric rise in Ad Blocker usage, up 30% in 2016, it is evident that current advertising methods are becoming less effective. By utilizing social influencers, brands are able to establish connections with customers by leveraging the existing relationship.
To the customer, it doesn’t feel like an advertisement, but rather a recommendation from a friend,” Goa Tourism said in a statement.
For their effort, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation as well as Goa Tourism Department has hosted bloggers, vloggers through digital events like #Escape2Goa activity, #PickMyGoaPic, #GoaLive, and #ProTraveller amongst others chronicling unique stories about Goa.
The campaign highlighted the vibrancy of Goa’s natural beauty through the various lenses of diverse types of travelers to Goa.
Initiated in 2015, Goa Tourism blazed a trail with ‘Tourism by Tourists’
campaign in 2016 which utilized more than 150 influencers resulting in a wide reach across the globe. In their on-going crowd-sourcing digital activity, Goa Tourism invited social media influencers, international travel bloggers, local content publishers, and amateur & semi-pro photographers to share experiences from their own perspectives.
Social influencers are an increasingly newer format of online engagement and advertising. In the marketing arms race, social influencers have become the new superhero. Forbes lists them as one of the “Six Social Media Marketing Trends To Stay On Top of In 2017.” Google Trends report shows that social influencer marketing has gained prominence and now rivals even video advertising, suggesting that brands are taking social influencers very seriously.
“Goa Tourism is leveraging on new trend and is optimistic of evolving faster in this new found scenario,” the statement reads.
