MARGAO: Goan Chess player Ethan Vaz was felicitated for clinching silver medal at the Under-10 World Cup finals recently which gave him a direct entry into the world super cup finals to be held in December this year.
Citizens for Democracy, a group that has parents of Ethan as members, hailed the performance of the child for representing India at the highest level in chess in his age category.
Elvis Gomes said that long hours of toil by Ethan under the guidance of his parents Edwin and Linda and coaches had helped him deliver a stellar performance.
Rodney Almeida presented a floral bouquet and a gift voucher wishing Ethan more success in his journey in chess. Sidharth Karapurkar said that Ethan could achieve greater heights like Vishvanthan Anand in future. Ramiro Mascarenhas, Pradeep Padgaonkar, Rosario Fernandes, Jason Andrade, Erasto Rodrigues, Richard D’Sa, Lumina D’costa and Alwyn were also present among others.
