Unknown culprits broke into an unoccupied bungalow at Cuncolim in a densely populated area.
Cuncolim police, however, said there were no valuables such as cash and jewelry inside the house since the owner was staying abroad.
The incident came to light when the caretaker of the bungalow noticed the door open, only to realize that unknown culprits had made entry into the house.
After the matter was reported to the Cuncolim police, a team of officials led by PI Gurudas Kadam inquired into the matter and suspected that it was the handiwork of the gang involved in committing house breaking thefts of unoccupied houses.
PI Kadam informed that the owner who is staying abroad was contacted by the police as part of the inquiry. “The owner said that no valuables, including jewelry and cash were inside the house”, he said.
The police station in-charge pointed out that the police are now conducting an inquiry into the persons involved in the incident, suspecting the hand of a gang involved in targeting closed houses.
