A Goan man arrested in an interstate drug crackdown allegedly maintained a network of over 800 customers in Telangana, with links in Andhra Pradesh, as police investigate a supply chain connecting Goa with the two States.
Pritesh Borkar, 36, was reportedly arrested in Anjuna on October 12 following surveillance by Telangana’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE Force), in coordination with Hyderabad police and with assistance from Goa Police. He was subsequently taken to Telangana for further investigation.
According to Telangana police, Borkar, previously booked in a narcotics case in 2022, allegedly supplied drugs through intermediaries and sub-peddlers.
“Hyderabad police had earlier arrested him in connection with narcotics cases, with other cases registered at the Miyapur and Allapur police stations... He maintained a network of more than 800 customers in Telangana, besides connections in Andhra Pradesh and Goa,” police said.
Earlier this week, EAGLE Force arrested Custodio Fernandes in Goa while investigating suspected financial transactions worth Rs 48.4 lakh and contact details of over 25 Telangana residents found on his mobile phone. “We are tracing suspected suppliers, distributors, purchasers and financial intermediaries in that case,” the force said, cautioning that a person’s name or number on a mobile phone alone does not establish drug consumption or criminal involvement.
