Goan schools to take part at ‘KRONOS 2K23’ in Belagavi

BELAGAVI

The St Paul’s High School at Belagavi will hold the ‘KRONOS 2K23’, a literary and cultural fest, on the school campus on October 30 and 31.

Over 1,000 students from different schools in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa will be vying for the top honours during the fest which is organised “by the students, for the students”. The theme for this event is ‘Transcending Beyond Cosmic Contemplation’.

Address a news conference, Savio Martins said that as per Greek mythology, Kronos is the God of the Gods and he represents the ultimate supreme power which means the ultimate winner.

“The first fest was held in 2012 under the guidance and direction of the former principal and present provincial of the Jesuits of Goa Province Fr (Dr) Roland Coelho SJ, who is also an alumnus of the school,” Martins said.

Briefing about the event, Principal of the School Fr Savio Abreu said the cabinet of the school will be organising this fest.

“The school has, till date, organised eight versions of KRONOS which have been fruitful and successful,” Fr Abreu said.

“With its glorious history of over 167 years, St Paul’s HS is carrying the legacy forward and we have continued the tradition of the fest over the years,” he said.

Giving further details, cabinet members of the school Sushildev Rane, Uziel Fernandes and Mohammed Munshi said 28 schools from three states will be taking part in the event.

“We have 11 events such as dance, singing, master and miss, etc where students can showcase their talents and win attractive prizes and trophies,” the cabinet members informed.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Principal Fr Sebastian Pereira said the event aspires to provide a stage for a range of talents to ignite the skills of the participants.

“The last fest was held in 2019 where over 1,000 students participated. However, it was on hold due to the Covid pandemic. With the situation coming back to normal, students have decided to hold this annual fest every year henceforth,” Fr Pereira said.
