With its tagline ‘Disguised as heaven, hurts like hell’ a short film ‘Iqbal’ based on a true life-story of a drug addict, is releasing on YouTube on January 10 on Vixels and Entertainer channel. This 20-minute film, directed by Viraj Korgaonkar and produced by Laxman Parab, has Omkar Parab depicting the main character of Iqbal along with Sharukh Khan, Sonali Sawal Dessai and Poojashree Palyekar in the supporting roles.
Written by Asmi Chari, who has also written the screenplay and dialogues, the film revolves round the life of a young drug addict Iqbal, whose life becomes hell after falling prey to this poison. He along with his family suffers tremendously, both mentally and physically.
“The message that this short film wants to give out to the youth is loud and clear “ Do not go for substance abuse,” states Omkar Parab, 21-year-old Pharmacy College student, and award-winning actor from Goa.
The project head of Iqbal is Viraj Korgaonkar while the DoP is Francis Furtado along with Brian Fernandes. Shivam Sharma is the video editor and sound recorder of Iqbal. Produced by Goa Deal, Ramathan Resorts and Suryakant Caterers, the film will be screened in this year’s IFFI, briefs Omkar.
All of us have heard about substance abuse but nobody really knows what actually happens to the person who indulges in it. Drugs affect the physical and mental health of not only the person who gets addicted to them, but it also affects his family tremendously. The film depicts all this trauma and melodrama.
“We are currently working on a new web series ‘Bunk’, which revolves around students who are not interested in studies but who do all sorts of interesting things “ fun, romance, and travel,” adds Omkar who is currently shooting another Marathi film too.
Acting on stage from class one, Mapusa resident Omkar is a state level artist who will soon be proceeding to Bollywood to try his luck in acting.
