Having come out of their comfort zone, sources said that the discipline and non-availability of non-vegetarian rattled the trainees.

A meeting of IGP Singh with his counterparts has ensured that Goan trainees will be provided with boiled eggs instead of milk every morning and non-vegetarian food twice a week. A separate RO water purifier has also been arranged for; the locals are not used to hard water.

The canteen, run by an NGO, serves vegetarian -- protein food. “You cannot get pav-bhaji or any maida or junk food. The mess strictly follows a protein diet,” an officer said, adding that officers across the ranks have the same food at this mess. It is learnt that each unlimited plate consists of chapatis, lentils, sabji (variations every day), rice, salad and curd.

As per the schedule disclosed to The Goan, the breakfast time is 9am to 10am while 12 noon to 1pm is lunch break, and dinner is slated from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. The training session includes theoretical classes from 10am to 3:30 pm (including lunch break) and drills from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
