Goa’s efforts in implementing Jal Jeevan initiatives hailed

A Regional Conference of States/UTs on Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) was held on Friday at Jaipur, Rajasthan by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral and Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho attended the regional conference. Officers from the Public Works Department and Directorate of Panchayats also attended the conference.
During the regional conference, general discussions were held under the Chairmanship of Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Government of India to review the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).
The Union Minister appreciated the efforts of the Government of Goa for the implementation of the Jeevan Mission as Goa was declared as the 1st State in the country to achieve 100% water supply connections through piped water supply and congratulated PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral for achieving the status of Har Ghar Jal.
The PWD Minister in his speech thanked the Union Minister of
Jal Shakti for continuous support extended to Goa and informed that during the year 2022-23 the total outlay proposed by Goa under Jal Jeevan Mission is Rs 110 crores which will include completion of augmentation of schemes taken up for the improvement of service levels, roll out of real-time monitoring of water supply schemes through IoT for the entire State, upgradation of 14 water testing laboratories and an extensive capacity building plan under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The PWD Minister also requested the Union Minister to consider sanctioning additional schemes which will include the replacement of aged old AC pipelines which have outlived their useful life and needs an immediate replacement for improvement of service levels and overall water supply position under Jal Jeevan Mission and the request to seek additional central assistance will be submitted soon to the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The Union Minister in his concluding remarks informed the ministers that Goa will receive all support from the Ministry of Jal Shakti for the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) and necessary assistance will be provided by the Ministry.
