Three unidentified women executed a daring theft at a jewellery shop in Quepem on Saturday afternoon, when they stole gold ornaments worth about Rs 2.52 lakh.
According to Pinky Pal, owner of Bhavani Jewellery shop, the three women entered the shop under the guise of potential customers, expressing interest in purchasing a gold chain and rings. As time passed and the jewellery was showcased to the women, they skilfully concealed the gold items in their pockets and left the premises without raising suspicion.
The theft was promptly discovered when the owner reviewed the CCTV footage, revealing the women had discreetly placing the gold items in their pockets. Alarmed by the footage, Pal immediately dispatched two staff members to pursue the suspects. Despite their efforts, the women were nowhere to be found in the vicinity.
The shop owner, who later lodged a police complaint, said the women spoke in Hindi, which could potentially aid authorities in identifying them. She also provided CCTV evidence to the police.
Local authorities are now on high alert, urging residents in the area to remain observant and cautious, particularly regarding any suspicious activities or individuals.
