Speaking to The Goan, persons familiar with the matter have revealed that the primary effort is being focussed on temporarily repairing the breached hull followed by emptying the vessel of water and sand in order that it can be taken further deeper where the real repairs can be conducted.

"The boat is now not in a position, where it can be just towed away," the source said.
Earlier Captain of Ports James Braganza told The Goan that his department was regularly monitoring the situation near the stranded vessel.
"Salvaging is an industry in itself and the company has been trying several options. They have brought in their own salvagers and are attempting to refloat the vessel," Capt Braganza had said.
The Goa State Pollution Control Board has already sought a `1-crore bank guarantee from the operator Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd and has asked it to submit an action plan to get the vessel out of river Mandovi.
Earlier, the government and the company sparred before the Bombay High Court at Goa with the government accusing the company of failing to abide by its terms and conditions while bringing the vessel into the river that eventualy led to its grounding on account of inclement weather.
The Bombay High Court at Goa will hear the matter on September 5.
