Lauding Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his great vision and sense of service, Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai said Sawant is an exemplary leader in the State and would have great achievements as a national leader.
The governor was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the new building of ‘Padmini Smruti’ Sai Nursing Institute at Sanquelim. Those present on the occasion included CM Pramod Sawant, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade, Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye, Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, Sankhali Mayor Siddhi Prabhu and others.
“If you are passionate about creation, you can make a big change in the society,” said the governor.
In his address, Sawant said providing a skilled and prosperous society is his goal.
“With the inspiration of my parents, and with the help of political guru (Manohar) Parrikar, everyone has cooperated to fulfil my vision in various social and political fields,” said Sawant.
“I have been emphasising on skill development and only if skills are developed, will employment be available.”
Union Minister Shripad Naik said ongoing efforts are being made to make the marginalised sections of society self-reliant and self-sufficient through the Sai Nursing Institute.
Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has made a great contribution in the field of education by building a well-equipped institute. Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye also spoke on the occasion.
On this occasion, the chief minister’s father, Pandurang Sawant, was felicitated by the governor on his birthday. Many people who have supported the ‘Padmini Smruti’ Sai Nursing Institute were felicitated on the occasion.
