Ponda police on Monday arrested Sunita Pauskar from Marcela, the aunt of Sagar Naik who is accused in the fraud case of accepting Rs 15 lakh on the pretext to providing a teaching job at a school.
The arrested Sunita Pauskar is the principal of a high school.
Following the arrest of Sagar Naik, Ponda police had issued a lookout notice against main mastermind of the case, Deepashree Sawant alias Gawas from Marcela. More names are likely to be revealed in this case shortly.
Sagar Naik is working as IRB constable and in September 2024 was declared as ‘Deserter’ due to non-performance of duties in the department without valid reason of absence from duty.
He was arrested by Ponda police on Sunday on charges of cheating the complainant, Trupti Prabhu to the tune of Rs 15 lakh on the pretext of providing a government post of primary school teacher at a school.
During interrogation, Sagar Naik revealed the name of his aunt Sunita Pauskar and she was arrested in the connection on Monday.
Police is on the lookout for Dipashree Sawant alias Gawas in this case and PSI Sanket Talkar is conducting further investigation under the guidance of Inspector Vijaynath Kavlekar.
