The State government on Thursday assured that supplies of petrol, diesel and LPG in Goa remain stable and adequate, urging the public not to pay heed to rumours or resort to panic buying.

Addressing a press conference, Secretary Civil Supplies Sanjeev Gadkar said Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), in coordination with the State government and district administration, are closely monitoring the situation and have taken necessary steps to streamline logistics and expedite deliveries.

He stated that uninterrupted availability of fuel is being ensured across the State, with supply levels aligned to current demand despite recent geopolitical tensions that briefly triggered a spike in consumption.

Domestic LPG supply continues as normal, with around 10,600 cylinders being delivered across Goa consistent with routine levels.

Gadkar noted that while daily supply touched 13,000 cylinders in March, it has now stabilised in line with current booking trends of about 8,000 per day. Digital bookings have also seen a rise, now accounting for nearly 80 per cent of total bookings.

To improve infrastructure, piped natural gas agencies have laid approximately 300 km of pipeline in areas including Tiswadi and Ponda, while an additional 250 km network has been developed across Mormugao and Margao.

For migrant labourers and students who may not have local address proof, 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders are being made available upon submission of valid government-issued ID and a declaration. Around 11,000 such cylinders have already been distributed.

Commercial LPG supply has reached nearly 60 per cent of normal levels, Gadkar said.

He said that authorities have stepped up enforcement against hoarding, conducted 436 raids statewide, acted on violations, while OMCs are inspecting LPG distributors to ensure compliance and uninterrupted supply.

Gadkar reiterated that petrol and diesel supplies remain steady, with any temporary surge in demand effectively managed through timely replenishment and logistics planning.
