Goa State BJP president Vinay Tendulkar said the BJP government has been instrumental in supporting women by launching different schemes like Griha Aadhar Yojna and Ladli Laxmi, even though the State had faced acute financial crunch due to a halt in mining activity.
He was addressing a corner meeting of BJP-backed candidate Tanuja Gaonkar (Ward 10) at Bairo Alto Bicholim on Wednesday night. Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) Chairperson Karuna Govekar, BJP Bicholim block president Vallabh Salkar, former Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar, DVS member Anthony Dias, Anjela Dias, Dr Shekhar Salkar, Vishwas Gaonkar and Agnelo Dias were also present.
Speaking further, Tendulkar said the government had accorded justice to different sections while executing the reservation of wards.
"BJP was also instrumental in restarting mining activities in the State,” he said, and called upon the people to make victorious Tanuja Gaonkar to retain the benefits of different schemes.
Patnekar said when he was the Bicholim MLA, he had witnessed stability in BMC when it was headed by Satish Gaonkar as its chairperson. He urged the voters to get elect all the BJP-backed candidates.
BMC Chairperson Karuna Govekar, Vallabh Salkar, Vishwas Gaonkar also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, another Ward 10 candidate Anjela Dias extended her support to BJP-backed candidate Tanuja Gaonkar and urged her voters to vote for Gaonkar.
