Stung by the barrage of criticism against the government and the chief minister, the BJP on Friday said infrastructure works in the State hasn’t stopped despite the cash crunch while the CM has been very sensitive in his approach to resolve people’s issues in the State.
“Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic the BJP-led government has continued with the developmental projects in the State. Simultaneously, the government has worked to uplift the standard of people in the State,” said Gorakh Mandrekar, Secretary of the BJP.
“Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has been following in the footsteps of former CM, late Manohar Parrikar, and has shown sensitivity in dealing with various issues of the people. He has taken several good decisions in the interest of Goans and continued with the social welfare schemes despite financial constraint,” he added.
The State BJP secretary along with North Goa BJP District Committee President, Mahanand Asnodkar, party executive members and ZP members was addressing a news conference in the party office in Mapusa.
Continuing, Mandrekar said the opposition and some individuals were making irresponsible statements against the government and the CM and misleading the people.
He said unnecessary charges were levelled against the party stating that BJP was ignoring the Bahujan Samaj in the State.
“Most of the leaders of BJP in the State come from SC, ST and OBC. BJP is the only party working for the Bahujan Samaj. In fact, former CM Manohar had launched most of the schemes with Bahujan Samaj in mind,” he said and added that the benefit of several schemes launched by the BJP is taken by people of the Bahujan Samaj.
He further said that the schemes launched by late Manohar Parrikar have been taken forward by the current CM Pramod Sawant.
The State BJP secretary also said that unsubstantiated charges were leveled against some ministers like Vishwajit Rane, Nilesh Cabral and Michael Lobo. “Vishwajit Rane has done excellent work during the Covid period and the development works by Michael Lobo has not been done by any MLA in Calangute for the last 20 years,” he said.
Mandrekar also hit out at the former Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar who recently quit BJP only to join regional outfit Goa Forward Party.
“In 2017 elections, the BJP karyakartas sweated it out during the campaign and left no stone unturned in working for the party’s victory. We lost the Tivim seat only because of the candidate and not because of the party,” he said.
