Move IIT out of Melauli: Valpoi Cong women

VALPOI
The Valpoi Mahila Congress Block, Valpoi said if there was opposition to the IIT project by locals in Guleli, the government should move it out of this area.

The block stated that the attempt made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to indirectly visit the Shel Melauli and interact with the locals was commendable.

In a press conference held recently Roshan Desai, Chairman of Mahila Congress Group Committee said the CM’s move to appoint a committee of fifteen people was a conspiracy to divide the locals.

“If this committee is formed, the unity of the citizens will be undermined. The Valpoi Congress women are not against the project, but if the locals do not want it, the government should move it elsewhere,” she said.

She said currently the issue of land ownership in Sattari taluka was very serious. If the government had taken the issue of land ownership seriously earlier, the situation would not be as dire today, she added.

“The government should make these lands in the name of the citizens of Melauli. We requested the government to take up the issue and resolve it immediately,” she said.

She said, “The government has filed lawsuits against many people for protesting against the project. As a result, they have to go to Panaji and attend hearings. This is causing trouble to the citizens.”
