Govt has failed miserably on Covid front: UGDP

MARGAO
Asserting that the sad happenings over the Covid front are a proof that the leadership has failed and failed miserably, the United Goans Democratic Party has said the government should own moral responsibility and quit.

He said everyone who brought BJP to power has overall India’s blood on their hands and the ravaging double mutant strain of Covid-19 especially in the last 24 hours in Goa is a very serious cause for concern.  “And it was the government’s making since it is spreading in South Goa from Margao to Canacona via Quepem and Sanguem after the great BJP elections,” reasoned out Dr Jorson.

He added: “Goa leads with 51 percent positivity rate whereas the national rate is  just 7 per cent. The BJP Government has registered a dubious record indeed, in the long run reaching even a world record at the cost of precious human lives. Figures point that there were active cases as on the voting day on April 23 and these became detected on the sixth day of voting on April 29. Couldn’t the Election Commission foresee the tragedy that is unfolding now. He also should be held responsible as it is seen that infections are now spreading rapidly in South Goa at a phenomenal rate," added Dr Jorson.

He said Goa has suffered enough during the second wave as the cases are rising and so is the case of deaths. “The leadership has been an utter failure, a super-disaster. There is no proper planning and preparedness, no anticipation on how to tackle the second wave and the so called 3-day lockdown is a big farce. Only last night a senior official of an association from North Goa who needed immediate hospitalisation was frantically searching for a bed with ventilator, which was not available in most hospitals in the North. He was then shifted to a South Goa hospital but since the ventilator was not available, it needed the intervention of an industrialist from Vasco to get the patient shifted to Vasco where he is responding to the treatment in the ICU.  Imagine the plight without a bed and without ventilator”, he added.
