Henceforth, only those State government employees who are financially sound to repay the loan, would be provided with the salary certificate.
The Goa government has implemented restrictions on the issuing salary certificates to the government department and quasi government department employees.
In a notification issued, Registrar of Cooperative Societies Manuel Barreto has informed about the government decision not to issue salary certificate to its employees and accordingly the circular issued in January 2003, with regards to salary certificate, has been withdrawn.
However, the Salary Drawing and Disbursing Officer has been granted powers to verify the financial position of the employee and decide on issuing the certificates.
“Nevertheless, DDO shall use his due diligence while issuing the salary certificate and on being satisfied that the employee is financially sound to repay the loan amount after having substantial amount to take home, issue the salary certificate,” the notification stated.
