PANAJI
Stating that the BJP-led coalition government is stable, the State Unit of BJP has stated that at least ten Congress MLAs are in touch with the BJP.
However, coming out strongly in support of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, the BJP on Saturday said that the disqualification petition filed against Rane is meaningless and the Party is confident of
winning both Panaji and Valpoi seats.
Addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters in Panaji, Party General Secretary Sadanand Shet Tanawade said, “Today when they speak about stability, our alliance partners have clearly stated that BJP’s coalition government is stable and they want to be with the BJP for the entire term of five years. Our Party President is getting calls from Congress MLAs, nearly 8-10 MLAs are in touch with us.”
Stating that the BJP will fully rally behind Vishwajit, he said, “Congress has merely filed the disqualification petition to keep all their MLAs together and give them confidence that they would form the government after by-polls. Congress merely wants to take mileage and use all gimmicks to make our coalition government unstable.
The Congress fears that some of their MLAs may leave the party and join BJP, so to keep the flock together they have done this act.”
BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said, “Congress Party has taken a decision to file disqualification petition against Rane mainly to refrain him from contesting elections. This clearly shows how scared the Congress is as they don’t even have the capacity to win in both “ Panaji and Valpoi constituencies.”
“If they had to do it, why did they wait for so long? They could have even filed the disqualification petition even with the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly. The Congress has woken up now. We condemn this act of the Congress,” he said.
