Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday mulled setting up of a Goa art and culture museum to promote cultural tourism by showcasing the art and cultural heritage of the State for the benefit of the tourists visiting the State.
Speaking at the Shigmotsav organised by the Madgao Shigmotsav Samiti at the Margao Municipal square on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the government will create a platform where the cultural heritage of Goa, including Shigmo and Carnival are showcased before the visitors. “The Goa museum can be set up at the ESG wherein the visitors can have a glimpse of the Goa’s rich cultural heritage in three hour-time. This will not only help to showcase the local culture, but the tourists will get a platform to have a glimpse of the culture during their visit to the State,” he said, adding that Tourism and Art and Culture department is working in that direction.
He complimented the young artists who have toiled hard to prepare the floats for the Shigmo and Carnival parades, saying “It’s due to the efforts of these youngsters that people get an opportunity to get a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage.”
