As Covid-19 cases are steeply rising, the ruling BJP State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Thursday said the administration should instil fear to a certain degree to coerce people to wear masks and follow Covid-19 related norms.
"A lockdown cannot be a solution, Tanavade said, adding that there was a need to create some atmosphere of fear and convince people to follow the do's and don'ts.
The State BJP chief said enforcement levels must be stepped up and people should be forced to wear masks in public places.
"Initially people were scared, (but) today, cases are increasing in a big way. If we need to bring this down, functions, parties need to be controlled," he said.
