Govt must officially de-notify zoning plan, insists Pernem citizens’ panel

PERNEM
Welcoming the decision to cancel the Pernem Taluka draft zoning plan, the Pernem Taluka Citizens’ Committee has, however, demanded that the government should officially de-notify the plan.

This was stated at a news conference addressed by Adv Sadanand Vaingankar and others at the Shree Bhagawati High School hall on Friday. Others present at the news conference included Adv. Jitendra Gaonkar, Pranav Parab, Bhaskar Narulkar, Uday Mahale and Pundalik Dhargalkar.

Elsewhere, the Pernem BJP block has thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane and Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar for taking the lead to cancel the proposed zoning plan after considering public sentiments.

Tambose-Mopa-Ugve Sarpanch and BJP Block General Secretary Subodh Mahale said the decision to cancel the zoning plan was appropriate and in the public interest.

Mahale said Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar had discussed the issue with TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane on a number of occasions.

Mahale added that the new zoning plan should be prepared taking into consideration the local sentiments.

The meeting was attended by Pernem Councillor Usha Nagvekar, Ibrampur Sarpanch Ashok Dhavaskar, panch Siya Dhuri, Deputy Sarpanch Vijay Mopkar and panch Vrishali Vijay Naik.

Usha Nagvekar welcomed the decision of scrapping of the zoning plan. “It was against people’s wishes and finally, it has been cancelled,” said Nagvekar.
